How we work with business and practitioners

We have worked with 95 organisations from the food and farming industries, regulatory authorities and civil society to help us shape the synthesis of knowledge and identify priority knowledge needs.

There were three levels of involvement in the process:

  1. In 2012 we formed three Task Forces on Sustainable Food Production (Aquaculture, Agriculture and UK Food Security). These groups met at intensive workshops early in 2013. They identified specific areas where scientific knowledge is most needed (and is currently lacking) to help the UK food industry, Government or society move towards more environmentally sustainable food production. If you'd like to know more, contact us by email.
  2. Organisations can tell us what concerns them or register interest on this website.
  3. We are now working closely with six key food sector companies (Sainsburys, Waitrose, Youngs Seafood, AB Agri, Mack Multiples and Pepsico) on specific projects to match their knowledge needs with existing or emerging research outputs.
